Prof Ravinder Rena is an Honorary Professor of Economics at the DUT Business School, Durban University of Technology, South Africa. He holds a PhD (Gold Medallist) in Economics from Osmania University, Hyderabad, India, along with BA, BEd, LLB, MA, and MPhil in Economics from India. He has been teaching and researching for more than 24 years, having worked across universities in India, Eritrea, Namibia, South Africa, and other countries. He served as Coordinator of the Joint African Masters Programme in Comparative Local Development at the Harold Pupkewitz Graduate School of Business, Polytechnic of Namibia, before joining the University of the Western Cape and subsequently DUT. He has published over 164 research papers and 9 books in reputed national and international journals. He is Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Education Economics and Development and is on the editorial board of several professional journals. His research focuses on development economics, education economics, microfinance, poverty, unemployment, rural entrepreneurship, and gender inequality in Africa and the Asia-Pacific region.
