| Dr John Mukum Mbaku is the Brady Presidential Distinguished Professor and Willard L. Eccles Professor of Economics at Weber State University, Ogden, Utah, where he has been a professor since 1991. Born in Cameroon, he holds a BS in Chemistry from Berry College, Georgia; an MIBS from the University of South Carolina; a PhD in Economics from the University of Georgia (1985); and a JD in Law and Graduate Certificate in Natural Resources and Environmental Law from S.J. Quinney College of Law, University of Utah (2010). He is a Non-Resident Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution and has consulted with the Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis, the African Economic Research Consortium (AERC), and the UN Economic Commission for Africa. He has been frequently interviewed by the BBC, CNN International, Al Jazeera International, TRT Türk, and other major media on African affairs. He received the John S. Hinckley Faculty Award for excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service, and has held the Willard L. Eccles Research Fellowship since 1994. He is licensed to practice law in the Supreme Court of Utah and the U.S. District Court for the District of Utah. |
